Flourish Australia has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified staff member to develop their career with us as an Acting General Manager, Services!
This is a closed-term full-time leave relief position, working Monday to Friday (with some on-call responsibilities), commencing 5 October 2026 and ending on 30 October 2026.
About this Opportunity
As the General Manager, Services, you will lead the delivery and growth of high quality, person-led, trauma- informed, recovery-oriented mental health services. The General Manager, Services has an important role in helping lead Flourish Australia’s sustainable growth in National Disability Insurance Scheme funded services, mental health government contracts and employment services.
The General Manager, Services will help ensure that people accessing Flourish Australia’s services as well as those who are employed by Flourish Australia, to develop and consistently maintain the hopefulness, activity, personal approach and realistic expectation of improvement, which will underpin success in supporting their mental health recovery. You will join a dynamic senior leadership team and lead the development and maintenance of key strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
In this role, you will:
- Providing expert advice to the COO and the Senior Leadership Team on matters relating to the efficient and effective delivery of recovery-based and trauma informed services within your area of responsibility.
- In conjunction with COO and the Senior Leadership Team manage direct services ensuring that measurement of outcomes and satisfaction for people with lived experience occurs routinely in all Flourish Australia services.
- Managing delivery of Flourish Australia mental health services in the areas specified, ensuring delivery of the highest possible levels of recovery-based services which are also in accordance with relevant regulations and funding agency standards and agreement
- Recruiting and supporting managers and other frontline staff to ensure that they are skilled and capable of delivering services to the required, professional standard
- Managing financial and physical resources effectively, ensuring that services are delivered within budget and timeframes
- Working with the COO, seek out and assess new and innovative work solutions to enhance the opportunities of accessing Flourish Australia's services and staff members.
- In conjunction with the Senior Leadership team, to expand Flourish Australia's services, including new expressions of interest and tenders for government funded programs and brokerage agreements with other non-government agencies.
- Ensure that services are timely, cost-effective, good quality and provide a range of accessible options for people with lived experience of mental health issues. Monitor effectiveness of services and satisfaction levels, and the achievement of service quality indicator targets, and respond promptly when change is needed

Selection Criteria
Essential
- Extensive experience in a mental health setting (at least 10-years), as demonstrated through senior previous appointments, service and study, and/or a diploma or degree in the behavioural sciences or a health-related discipline.
- Strong, demonstrated leadership and change management skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to human rights, mental health recovery and trauma informed supports in service delivery.
- Demonstrated experience in being an influential and strategic thinker, analysing situations and issues, and identifying and evaluating options and developing innovative and creative solutions.
- Demonstrated senior experience in the successful management of human, financial and other resources to deliver against government and commercial contracts, and funding agreements
- Demonstrated experience in, and specialist knowledge related to employment services, managing commercial contracts, managing government contracts and delivering NDIS programs.
- Excellent organisational skills and an ability to manage ambiguity and challenges of organisational decision-making.
- Outstanding communication, influencing and negotiating skills with an ability to communicate clearly, sensitively and convincingly with diverse audiences to achieve a common understanding and promote desired ends.
