We are looking for a Peer Worker to join our new Inclusive Employment Australia program working with the team in Tamworth!
The position available is:
- Part-time position based in Tamworth (30 hrs/fortnight)
- Working between Monday and Friday with flexibility to negotiate your days!
- Level 3 on the Flourish Australia Enterprise Agreement (2018)
About the Opportunity
As a Peer Worker within our Inclusive Employment Australia (IEA) program, you will use your lived experience of mental health challenges and recovery to support people accessing our services to achieve their hopes and dreams. You will play an important part in assisting people to maintain wellness and realise their employment goals.
On a day to day basis you will:
- Support people to understand the role of meaningful employment in their recovery journey.
- Encourage engagement in employment-related activities, appointments, education, training and skill development opportunities.
- Share practical strategies that promote confidence, resilience, self-advocacy and sustainable employment outcomes.
- Promote positive self-care strategies, enrich social and living skills, increase vocational skills and work to improve community integration.
- Assist people accessing the service to navigate appointments, services and community resources.
- Contribute lived experience perspectives to support planning, service delivery and continuous improvement activities.
- Work collaboratively with Employment Coordinators, Team Leaders and other team members to achieve positive outcomes.
Essential:
- A Certificate IV or above in a relevant field OR a minimum of 2-years full-time experience working in the human services field (as recognised by Flourish Australia).
- A strong commitment to recovery-based practice in the workplace.
- A personal lived experience of a mental health challenge and recovery.
- Demonstrated alignment to Flourish Australia’s values.
- Understanding of, and ability to effectively use, Microsoft Office and knowledge of data information management systems.
- Maintain a current Australian Driver’s Licence.
- A current First Aid Certificate.
